How Well Do You Know House Prices Around The UK?
House prices naturally fluctuate, but do you know how much properties currently cost in your area? How about in different cities around the UK?
Our recent research found that people generally have little knowledge of house prices, whether that’s in their region or not.
The most inaccurate estimates were for London properties, with people guessing over £160,000 less than the actual average price of £472,000.
Brits are also unaware of how cheaply properties sell for in Glasgow, Belfast and Nottingham, with the average estimates being over £60,000 higher than reality.
Surprisingly, people are often worse at guessing their own city’s house prices than the national average.
In our study, 60% of cities were worse at estimating their own property values than other people around the UK. Londoners (£157,000 too low) and Glaswegians (£85,000 too high) were the most inaccurate at guessing their own house prices.
