The story of how we sent keys to space

On the 19th January 2022, we at Good Move held a competition to make one lucky first-time buyer's dream come true and pay £10k towards a house deposit. To find a worthy winner, we sent a pair of regular house keys into space, before dropping them down to earth over the UK. All somebody had to do was find them and the money was theirs.

The catch? Nobody knew exactly where our parachuting parcel was going to land – not even us! And so began the nation’s greatest ever scavenger hunt...

Terms & Conditions

  1. The Promoter

The promoter is: Good Move Limited of 114 Harrogate Rd, Chapel Allerton, Leeds LS7 4NY (the "Promotor").

  1. The Competition
    1. The title of the competition is “Good Move: Sending Keys to Space for £10,000 towards a house deposit”.
    2. The prize for the winner of the competition is £10,000 (ten thousand pounds) (the “Prize”) for use entirely, or as part of, a deposit for the purchase of a house located in the United Kingdom (a “House Deposit”) in accordance with clause 5 of the terms and conditions.
    3. Providing that the Prize has not been successfully claimed, the Promotor may withdraw the competition at any time in accordance with clause 3.2(b)(i).
  2. How To Enter
    1. The competition will open from 12pm on 19 January 2022 (the "Opening Date").
    2. The competition will close on the earliest of:
      1. a person who is eligible to enter the competition successfully claiming the Prize by meeting the conditions in clause 6.1; or
      2. provided no-one has successfully claimed the Prize:
        1. the date on which the Promotor posts notice on its social sites (Twitter and Facebook) that the competition has closed; or
        2. if no notice is posted in accordance with clause 3.2(b)(i), at 5pm on 19 April 2022,

the "Closing Date".

    1. All claims for the Prize must be received by the Promoter by no later than 5pm on the Closing Date. Any claim for the Prize received after the Closing Date will be automatically disqualified.
    2. To enter the competition following the instructions in clause 6.1:
      1. find the key;
      2. call the telephone number on the key and follow the accompanying instructions for claiming the Prize; and
      3. be the first eligible person to do so.
    3. No purchase necessary.
    4. The Promoter will not accept:
      1. responsibility for competition entries that are lost, mislaid, damaged or delayed in transit, regardless of cause, including, for example, as a result of any postal failure, equipment failure, technical malfunction, systems, satellite, network, server, computer hardware or software failure of any kind; or
      2. proof of posting or transmission as proof of receipt of entry to the competition.
    5. It is a condition of entry that the winner of the Prize agrees to the use of their name, county of residence and photo and video images of them being used for promotional purposes in connection with this competition. In relation to this promotional activity the winner shall:
      1. provide the promoter with photo and video media as the promoter may reasonably request;
      2. make themselves available for the purposes of the promoter creating such promotional material; and
      3. allow images of the property bought to be used in the promotional material.

If you do not agree to participate in the promotional activity described above then you should not enter the competition.

    1. If you submit a competition entry but claiming the Prize, you are agreeing to be bound by these terms and conditions.
  1. Eligibility
    1. The competition is open to all residents in the UK aged 18 years or over, except:
      1. employees of the Promoter or its holding or subsidiary companies;
      2. employees of agents or suppliers of the Promoter or its holding or subsidiary companies, who are professionally connected with the competition or its administration;
      3. members of the immediate family or household of anyone in (a) or (b) above.
    2. By entering the competition, you confirm that you are eligible to do so and eligible to claim the Prize. The Promoter may require you to provide proof that you are eligible to enter the competition.
    3. There is a limit of one entry per person. Entries on behalf of another person will not be accepted and joint submissions are not allowed.
    4. The Promoter reserves all rights to disqualify you if your conduct is contrary to the spirit or intention of the Prize competition.
  2. The Prize
    1. The Prize is £10,000 for use as the whole, or part of, a House Deposit by the winner. The Prize can be used only as a House Deposit and the Promotor reserves the right to require reasonable evidence to establish the Prize will be used for this purpose.
    2. There is only one Prize.
    3. The winner has 12 months from the Closing Date in which to use the Prize as a House Deposit.
    4. The Prize will be released by the Promoter to the winner’s solicitor upon receipt of written confirmation from the winner’s solicitor that the Prize will be used for the purpose of a House Deposit.
    5. The winner’s solicitor will be required to give an undertaking that should the Prize not be used as a House Deposit then it shall be returned to the Promoter.
    6. The Prize is not negotiable or transferable.
    7. In order to claim the Prize you must be the first person to follow the instructions at clause 6.1.
  3. Claiming the Prize
    1. The winner must claim the Prize by:
      1. Finding the key dropped from space by the promoter or their agents.
      2. Following the instructions accompanying the dropped key:
        1. scratch off the sticky table label on the keyring attached to the key; and
        2. call the telephone number shown to be taken through to a voicemail service and follow the instructions relayed.
      3. Being the first person to claim the Prize in accordance with these instructions.
    2. The first eligible person to follow the instructions at clause 6.1 shall win the Prize and the competition will end in accordance with clause 3.2.

  4. Winner
    1. The decision of the Promoter is final and no correspondence or discussion will be entered into.
    2. The Promoter will contact the winner personally as soon as practicable after the Closing Date, using the telephone number or email address provided via the process set out in clause 6.
    3. The Promoter must publish or make available information that indicates that a valid award took place. To comply with this obligation the Promoter will send the surname and county of the Prize winner to anyone who emails within one month after the Closing Date of the competition.  
    4. The Promoter shall have a non-exclusive, irrevocable, royalty free licence to any such promotional material created or obtained in accordance with clause 3.7 in which the Promoter does not own the intellectual property rights.
  5. Limitation of Liability

Insofar as is permitted by law, the Promoter, its agents or distributors will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate the winner or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of taking up the Prize except where it is caused by the fraud or negligence of the Promoter, its agents or distributors or that of their employees. Your statutory rights are not affected.

  1. Data protection and publicity
    1. The Promoter will only process your personal information as set out in the data collection terms. See also clause 3.7 and clause 7.3 of these terms and conditions with regard to the announcement of winners and publicity.
  2. General
    1. The Promoter may, at its sole discretion, exclude you from participating in the competition if there is any reason to believe that there has been a breach of these terms and conditions in connection with you claiming the Prize.
    2. The Promoter reserves the right to hold void, suspend, cancel or amend the competition where it becomes necessary to do so.
    3. These terms and conditions shall be governed by English law, and the parties submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
